PACE provides Free electronic tax filing for area residents through a program offered by the Greater New Bedford Earned Income Credit Coalition. Any family who is eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit is welcome to make an appointment. The Earned Income Tax Credit is a special tax benefit for working people who earn low or moderate incomes. Single people or married people who earned wages working and meet the income guidelines qualify for this tax credit. What is important to note is that this is a Tax Credit, not to be confused with a tax refund of excess taxes taken out of weekly wages. This credit is actually added to your tax refund if the filer is eligible for a tax refund. Additionally, if you do not apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit, you will not receive it even if you are eligible for it. This program operates during the tax season of mid-January to mid-April.
